Description
Care Sodium Bicarbonate Ear Drops contain ingredients, which act physically to gently soften earwax prior to removal. Normally removal of the wax is achieved by syringing the ear and should be carried out at a suitable time by a nurse, doctor or specialist. They will advise you on how long to use the drops before they carry out removal. You may be told to use the drops without the need for syringing. If your doctor or nurse gives you specific directions for use you should follow them. The usual way to use the drops is given under ‘How to use’.
Suitable for
It is suitable for adults, the elderly and children over 1 year.
Children under 5 years: younger children should have their ear wax problem diagnosed by the doctor before treatment with sodium bicarbonate ear drops begins.
How to use
For external use only.
Adults, the elderly and children over 1 year:
- Tilt head sideways with the affected ear facing upwards.
- Avoid touching the ear with the dropper.
- Using the dropper place 3 to 4 drops into the ear.
- Never insert the dropper or any solid object into the ear.
- Allow a few minutes for the drops to reach the eardrum by keeping the head tilted then use a tissue to wipe away any surplus product that runs from the ear.
- Use the drops twice a day for up to seven days.
- Once opened store the dropper in the bottle.
The doctor, nurse or specialist may give you other specific may give you other specific instructions for using the drops depending on the severity of your ear wax problem.
DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE.
Hazards and Cautions
Although the use of this product is not known to have any effect on the ability to drive or to use machinery, it is known that the procedure of syringing the ears may cause vertigo (a feeling of dizziness or ‘spinning’). If this occurs avoid driving or using machinery until the feeling wears off.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.
Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.
Possible side effects
If the drops cause irritation in your ear or you notice any other side effects, stop using them and tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Store below 25°C.
Do not freeze.
Discard the drops 28 days after first opening.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
