Imodium Instant Melts Orodispersible Tablets are used to treat two types of diarrhoea: short term diarrhoe and IBS diarrhoea.
Suitable for
It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years (or over 18 for an IBS patient).
How to use
Do not give to children aged under 12 (or under 18 for an IBS patient).
Short term diarrhoea:
- Adults and children aged 12 and over: Take two tablets to start treatment. Take one tablet after each loose bowel movement.
- Do not take for attacks lasting longer than 48 hours.
- Do not take more than six tablets in a 24- hour period.
IBS diarrhoea:
- Adults aged 18 and over: Take two tablets to start treatment. Take one tablet after each loose bowel movement (or as advised by your doctor).
- You can use this medicine for up to 2 weeks for repeated attacks, but do not take for any one attack lasting longer than 48 hours.
- Do not take more than six tablets in a 24-hour period.
Peel back the lid and tip the tablet out. Do not push the tablets through the lid. Place the correct number of tablets on the tongue. The tablets
dissolve quickly in your mouth, so you don’t need water to swallow them. Do not chew.
Hazards and Cautions
This medicine may make you feel dizzy, tired or sleepy. If you’re affected do not drive, cycle or use machines.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.
Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.
Possible side effects
Feeling sick, constipation or wind, headache, dizziness or drowsiness, vomiting, indigestion, dry mouth.
Storage
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Active ingredients
Each tablet contains loperamide hydrochloride 2mg.
