Loperamide 2mg Capsules are used to treat the symptoms of short-lived (acute) cases of diarrhoea in adults and children aged 12 years and over and to treat acute diarrhoe associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome in adults following diagnosis by a doctor.

Suitable for

It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over.

How to use

Do not give to children under 12 years old.

For acute diarrhoea:

• Adults (including the elderly): two capsules should be taken to start with, followed by a further capsule after each episode of diarrhoe. Do not take more than 8 capsules a day.
• Children 12 – 17 years: one capsule should be taken to start with, followed by a further capsule after each episode of diarrhoe. Do not take more than 3 capsules per 20kg of the child’s bodyweight, up to a maximum of 8 capsules a day.
• If you still have diarrhoe after 48 hours treatment, you should consult your doctor.

For irritable bowel syndrome:

• Adults (including the elderly): two capsules should be taken to start with. The usual dose is 2 to 4 capsules a day in divided doses. Do not take more than 8 capsules a day.

Hazards and Cautions

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.

Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.

Possible side effects

Constipation, feeling sick or nausea, wind (flatulence), headache and dizziness.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Each capsule contains loperamide hydrochloride 2mg.
