The active ingredients (which make Nurofen Plus Tablets work) are Ibuprofen and Codeine phosphate. Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs provide relief by changing the body’s response to pain, swelling, and high temperature. This product contains codeine. Codeine belongs to a group of medicines called opioid analgesics which act to relieve pain. It can be used on its own or in combination with other pain killers such as paracetamol.

Nurofen Plus Tablets (which contains codeine) can be used in children over 12 years of age for the short-term relief of acute, moderate pain that is not relieved by other painkillers such as paracetamol, ibuprofen or aspirin alone, such as :
• migraine, headaches, neuralgia
• period, dental, back, rheumatic and muscular pains.

Suitable for

It is suitable for adults, the elderly and children aged 12 years and older.

How to use

This medicine should not be taken for more than 3 days. If the pain does not improve after 3 days, talk to your doctor for advice.

This product is for short term use only. You should take the lowest dose for the shortest time necessary to relieve your symptoms.

Nurofen Plus should not be taken by children below the age of 12 years, due to the risk of severe breathing problems.

Adults, the elderly and children aged 12 years and older : swallow 1 or 2 tablets with water, up to three times a day as required. Leave at least four hours between doses. Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24 hour period

This medicine contains codeine and can cause addiction if you take it continuously for more than three days. When you stop taking it you may get withdrawal symptoms. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you think you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED DOSE.

Hazards and Cautions

This medicine can affect your ability to drive as it may make you sleepy or dizzy or cause drowsiness. Do not drive while taking this medicine until you know how it affects you.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.

Seek advice before using if you are breast feeding, pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or suffer from allergies.

Possible side effects

Indigestion or heartburn, constipation, stomach pain or other abnormal stomach symptoms, rashes, itching or worsening of asthma, sweating, thirst, muscle weakness or tremors, sleeplessness, chest pain or fast, irregular heart beat, liver and kidney problems, headache, nausea, dizziness or drowsiness, decreased appetite, depression, hallucination, blurred vision.

Storage

Store in a dry place below 25°C.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.

Active ingredients

Each tablet contains ibuprofen 200mg and codeine phosphate 12.8mg.
